Prenatal Care


  • Preconception interviews
  • Free Consultation & Pregnancy testing
  • Prenatal visits which last 30-60 minutes 
  • Prenatal visits monthly through 28 weeks, every two weeks from 28-36 weeks, then weekly until your baby is born.
  • Home visit between 35-37 weeks.
  • Labs-Standard prenatal and genetic testing including 10 week Non-invasive prenatal testing offered and drawn here.
  • Nutrition and supplement counseling
  • At each visit-weight, blood pressure, maternal and fetal well being assessment: heart rate, growth, position, activity.
  • Pregnancy, childbirth, & newborn education
  • Referral for ultrasound with Maternal Fetal Medicine if desired or indicated
  • Emotional support
  • Book and video lending library
  • 24 hour access to a midwife



  • Midwifery attended labor and birth including vital signs monitoring, continuing maternal and fetal well being assessment, assisting with birth, postpartum and newborn care.
  • Pain management-We have nitrous!  
  • Relaxation techniques, including massage, water therapy, etc.
  • All equipment for birth provided
  • Emergency equipment, if needed including, oxygen, suction, IV supplies, antibiotics, antihemorrhagic drugs, suturing, etc.
  • Full family involvement encouraged
  • Full newborn assessment done
  • Erythromycin eye ointment & vitamin K offered and provided by parents informed consent
  • Breastfeeding education and assistance
  • Postpartum instructions given and explained 
  • Custom Birth & Pool Kits which will include most everything you will need to birth at home, from cord clamps, and baby hats to protective sheets and Depends.  Towel and blanket service so we won't be using your good towels, and no laundry for you to deal with after the birth. 


Postpartum & Newborn Care

  • Home visits on Day 1 and Day 3, more if needed
  • Postpartum office visits weekly until 6-8 weeks.
  • Footprints
  • Compassionate Newborn Metabolic Screen 
  • Congenital Heart Defect Screen
  • Transcutaneous Meter Jaundice check on days 1 & 3 
  • Newborn hearing screen 
  • Breastfeeding assistance
  • Maternal & Newborn well-being assessments at visits
  • Birth Certificate/Social Security number filed
  • Postpartum Labs/PAP offered if due or indicated
  • Family Planning counseling-Diaphragm/cervical cap fitting


  All Washington based plans are required by law to pay for midwifery services including prenatal care, the birth, and the postpartum care. Some plans will cover only birth center birth, and not home birth. Ann Olsen has an excellent medical billing service that can help to answer questions about your insurance coverages. If you do not have insurance and you don't want or qualify for Medicaid, Ann offers a substantially discounted fee to those that pay in full by their 36th week of pregnancy. If you are cash pay, in addition to her fees you will also have charges for lab work, and an ultrasound if desired or needed.
